The FAIR Foundation has joined REBUILD 850, an initiative to address the continuing needs of communities who are still suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Michael. When Hurricane Michael made landfall on Oct. 10, it was the strongest storm to ever hit the Florida Panhandle, with wind speeds of up to 155 mph. The storm moved quickly, prompting the evacuation of 140,000 people just one day after reaching hurricane status. In one more day, the storm would be gone, leaving 45 dead — 35 in Florida — and destroying whole towns. But the recovery from Michael will be anything but fast, with damage estimated at $4.5 billion.
Inspired by two former Florida Speakers of the House, Allan Bense and Will Weatherford, REBUILD 850 encourages people and businesses to donate, volunteer, visit, and invest in Florida’s Panhandle. The campaign unites the resources of the FAIR Foundation- “Get Ready, Florida!”, FIU Hurricane National Research Center, the Salvation Army, the National Emergency Management Association, Sachs Media Group, Volunteer Florida, the Florida Chamber, the Florida Chamber Foundation, the Florida League of Cities, the Florida Association of Counties, the Florida Association of District School Superintendents, United Way of Florida, the American Red Cross, and the Florida Press Association.
100% of your donation provides direct financial assistance to service organizations responsible for disaster-related response and recovery in the Florida panhandle. Funds are administered by the Florida Disaster Fund, the State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist Florida’s communities as they respond and recover during times of emergency or disaster. Donations to the FAIR Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, are tax deductible.
For donations greater than $1,000, please contact the FAIR Foundation Development Office directly at 754-200-4623.
We happily accept all major credit cards.
